Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, South Williamsport, PA

The Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum offers a small piece of America’s favorite pastime. It has two levels of exhibits, displays and artifacts to inspire and educate visitors of all ages. Travel back to the dawn of Little League to learn about founder Carl Stotz and his vision for a community-supported, volunteer-based youth baseball program. See how his vision became a worldwide phenomenon. In the Hall of Excellence discover the many leaders from all walks of life who as Little Leaguers learned the values that made them successful. Learn the history of equipment and safety, and see how equipment meant to protect children ended up protecting the pros, too. Check out the Gallery of Achievement, dedicated to the volunteers who have turned Little League Baseball and Softball into the world’s most respected youth sports programs.

When you think you’ve seen all the museum has to offer—the interactive fun begins! Kids, see how fast you can get from home to first base on the running track. Film your pitching motion in the pitching cages, and perfect your swing in the batting cages. See yourself in action on the instant replay video monitors. And check out the most thrilling action from years of Little League World Series championship games.

A visit to the Little League Museum teaches more than just the history of Little League: It’s a great way to learn United States and world history as well. Little League became international in the 1950’s as the American culture spread in places like Latin America, Europe and Asia. Today, the museum continues to chronicle the program’s trek across the globe to leagues in Africa, Australia, South America and the newest countries of Europe. As you enter the museum, you will see the world of youth sports in a whole new way. The colorful flags flying overhead represent each country participating in the Little League Program.
