Get Back to Nature at the Pymatuning Wildlife Learning Center. In Linesville, Pennsylvania, travelers will come across the Pymatuning Wildlife Learning Center. The Center opened in 1938 as the Pymatuning Museum, and has always been dedicated to educating the public on the wilderness of Pennsylvania and the importance of conserving it.
Guests to the Center will find a number of different exhibits, as well as special activities and learning programs. Everything at the Center is designed to make the experience of learning about the wild fun and interesting. You can attend lectures, see videos, and even take guided nature walks.
Some of the most popular items at the center are the more than 300 mounted animals. They include everything from small birds to large mammals. Quite a few of these mounted animals are placed in exhibits that closely resemble their habitat in the wild. Some of the exhibits that you can see are the bald eagle nest, a big game exhibits, and a mountain stream.
Another popular area is the Hunting Heritage Room, where you can listen to an audio exhibit about predators and prey. In addition, the Activity Room offers interactive computer games, where everyone in the family can test to see just how much they know about the wild creatures of the Pennsylvania backwoods and waters.
On the outside of the Learning Center, you will find just as many interesting things as on the inside. You can learn how to attract different kinds of wildlife to your backyard, including birds, squirrels, and more.
Also outside are houses and feeders for different kinds of wildlife. You can see a bat condominium, as well as boxes for the local bluebirds. Perhaps the most famous types of animal that draws visitors to the area are the bald eagles, which are visible at the Center on most days. Don't forget to bring a camera to photograph all the wonderful, wild critters that you will see.
A trip to the Pymatuning Wildlife Learning Center is fun for kids and adults, and if you are in the area, you will want to check out all that it has to offer. The Center opens for the summer on May 10, and it is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30AM to 4PM. It is closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Admission to the Center is free, making this attraction both fun and affordable – a perfect place to bring the whole family.
